The business is growing, we've had such a wonderful response to our textiles. I feel I need to spend more time expanding my production base. My favorite part of the process is working with the craftspeople and being inspired by the amazing creativity and magic in their hands...
So here I am- on a sabbatical in Bangalore... very exciting!!! It's been 10 years since I lived here. Since I had my weaving studio and was in daily contact with looms and weavers.
There have been plenty of visits, but it's nice to have the feeling of 'being back home'.
Check back in for images and visuals from our trip- what inspires us and new designs in process.
Following India's World Cup Cricket win on April 2nd, 2011- there has been much rejoicing and excitement all around India and especially the city of Mumbai- where the final was played. The last time the Indian team won was in 1983- I was in school in Bombay at the time!
Here is some video footage and images that capture the feelings and joy that was experienced all around the country.

When visiting foreign countries, it's a great idea to purchase crafts as gifts and for yourself. You bring home something unique and support the local economies and craftspeople. As quoted in the NY Times article- Is there a Right Way to Spend Money When Traveling here, 'Crafts are the best things to buy; they have people's dreams woven into them.'
Here are some of the unique crafts we came across when recently traveling in India.
Last week walking around the streets of SoHo in New York, I came across the very fun windows of the store and cafe, Nespresso on Mercer and Prince streets. They were created by Indian designer Manish Arora. Manish is best known for his flamboyant, avant garde and fantastical designs in vivid colors.
The windows are intricately detailed- embellished in sequence, glitter and embroidery. They feature skyscrapers, Lady Liberty, taxicabs and the best of art deco NY.
Manish has recently taken the helm as creative director of womenswear at, Franco-Spanish brand, Paco Rabanne. His first collection for Spring-Summer 2012 will show in Paris in October 2011... stay tuned!

We're back from the sunshine and being outdoors in Bangalore...
to the snow storms and the freezing weather here in Boston. From sipping fresh coconut water to stay cool, to cups of steaming hot cocoa to stay warm!
Both beautiful and enjoyable, but so very different... These are the two worlds we live between and which inspire our textiles and patterns. Follow us on our journey, as we share glimpses of our world and what inspires us...
